EFI & Electrical Diagnostic
Electronic fuel injection (EFI) – The movement away from old carburettor engines to the newer technology EFI engine was due to the better performance of the new technologies ie lower fuel consumption and reduced pollution.
Along with computerisation all modern Electronic Fuel Injected (EFI) vehicles are equipped with Oxygen sensor(s).

This vital sensor monitors exhaust gases and feeds back information to Engine Management Control Unit (ECU), thus, controlling the amount of fuel injected into the combustion chamber.
Should the initial ‘calculated’ injection pulse be a little too much or not enough then the ECU will, continually, increase and or decrease the amount of fuel injected. This keeps the engine on its ‘peak’ performance.
The driver should also monitor any “diagnostic trouble codes” displayed on the dashboard. These codes may also indicate potential significant problems that may need immediate attention.
Long Reef Garage recommends carrying out a full system diagnostic report on a vehicle performance bi-annually. This will involve an engine management check through a computerised data printoutand assessment of various componentry.
At Long Reef Garage (LRG) it is our aim to maintain to the highest standards your vehicle’s safety and performance through highly skilled technicians and quality computer assessment equipment.
Regular servicing of your car makes sense for such an important investment.
